A private yacht charter can produce memorable photographs without making public promotion part of the experience. Before booking, ask whether the provider or its suppliers plan to capture images and how any marketing permission is handled.

Identify the kind of photography
Your own guests taking pictures, a photographer you hire and a provider creating promotional content are different arrangements. Tell the booking team which you expect and which you do not want.
For a private family celebration, you may welcome photographs delivered to your group while preferring that names, faces and location details stay out of public posts. For a corporate event, the organizer may need a separate internal approval process before any image is released.
Describe the preference clearly and ask the provider to confirm what it can accept. Do not treat broad promises of discretion as a substitute for the actual photography terms.
Read the relevant booking language
Ask whether image permissions appear in the charter agreement, a separate release or the photographer's contract. If a condition is unclear, request an explanation before signing.
Clarify proposed uses such as a website gallery, social media or advertising. If approval is requested for selected images, establish who will review them and how the accepted process will be recorded. Do not assume an informal conversation changes a written agreement.
Account for every guest's preference
Avoid granting blanket permission on behalf of other adults without first checking their wishes and the provider's process. For children, have the responsible parent or guardian address the relevant permission through the accepted procedure.
A mixed-preference group needs a workable plan. The photographer may need to know which guests should be kept out of planned promotional shots. Explain that requirement before the outing; a discreet pre-event brief is more useful than identifying people loudly on the dock.
Separate privacy planning from a guarantee
Even an agreed no-marketing arrangement cannot promise that no one nearby will ever photograph the boat. Other guests, marina visitors or people on nearby vessels may have cameras. Discuss the provider's own conduct and the instructions it can pass to its team without claiming control over every public setting.
If confidentiality is essential, also ask about any onboard recording or security systems and the process for obtaining further information. Do not request that safety or security equipment be disabled as an informal accommodation.
